Emerging Leadership Institute

 

Emerging Leadership Institute (ELI) is a leadership development program for newly identified leaders at Ivy Baptist Church (IBC).

 

What is the Purpose of ELI?

 

The purpose of ELI is to provide biblically-based instruction and training to enable participants to serve as effective spiritual leaders.

 

Who should sign up for ELI?

 

Any newly inspired and identified potential leaders who are currently faithfully serving in a ministry at IBC should sign up for ELI?.

 

How do I enroll in ELI?

 

Applicants begin the enrollment process by submitting and online application.  A paper copy can be made available by contacting the church office.  Enrollment applications must be completed by September 30, 2017.  Panel interviews will be conducted with each applicant in October and November 2017.  Notifications will be made in December 2017.

 

When will ELI classes begin and how often will they take place?

 

Classes will begin on January 27, 2018 and will be held on the 4th Saturday of each month from 9 a.m. - 12 p.m (tentative). There may be other meeting dates/times throughout the course to allow for practical application of leadership skills. The class will be comprised of an eight-month classroom instruction and application component with a four-month internship within Ivy Baptist Church. The total time commitment is one year.

Leadership Covenant

As a leader at IBC, I agree to the following commitments:

 

  • Uphold and support the vision and mission of Ivy Baptist Church (IBC) (Proverbs 29:18).
  • Be in regular attendance at weekend worship services at IBC, Bible study, discipleship classes, as well as other highlighted services throughout the year (Hebrews 10:25).
  • Commit to grow in my personal relationship with Christ, taking full advantage of the training and resources that will help strengthen and develop as a leader at IBC (2 Timothy 1:6).
  • Cooperate with established church leadership, support the plans, and participate in the endeavors of IBC (Hebrews 13:17).
  • Live a lifestyle that is above reproach, recognizing that some things may be lawful to do, but are not beneficial for my witness as a leader at IBC (1 Timothy 3:1-7; 1 Corinthians 6:12).
  • Be an example of a leader by giving regularly in financial support of IBC (2 Corinthians 9:7).
