What to Expect

“Come as you are” is a real thing at Ivy. Whether you rock jeans or your Sunday best, you’re welcome here. There is no dress code. Just bring yourself!

We recommend showing up early to find parking and settle in for worship. Arriving 10-15 minutes early is a good idea, but you may want to arrive before 9:30 AM to take part in corporate prayer in the Blue Sanctuary.

There is a team of volunteers and police officers to help you find parking for service. Ivy is located in a residential area, so please be mindful of our neighbors when utilizing street parking. Follow the directions of the officers helping with traffic flow, and you’ll be good to go!

Worship

The Praise & Worship team kicks off our service in song. You will see our Ministry in Arts team throughout the sanctuary ministering in movement. On select Sundays, the choir will sing before the sermon. Ivy is a free worshipping church and you’re welcome to worship from your seat, in the aisles, or at the altar.

Word

You can expect dynamic, scripture-based preaching with a real-world twist. Pastor Swann and our team of ministers bring the Word in a way that’s relevant, impactful and often comes with a few laughs.

Once service wraps, head to the front of the sanctuary so we can meet you! If you need prayer, our Intercessory Prayer team is here to lift you up. Plus, our Member Relations team is available to answer any questions and help you connect with the Ivy fam.

Getting Here

We are located in the historic Salter’s Creek area of Newport News, near the James River.

This neighborhood, along with its surrounding areas, played a significant role in the development of African American culture, housing, and leadership in Newport News.
